This was way overpriced at over 200 dollars for a private room for two. Our key didn't work in the lock, a bedside lamp did not work and when I mentioned that the problem wasn't corrected. I waited five minutes for the water to heat up in the shower and it achieved only a luck warmth. I had been in hsotels before where there was a common meeting room and there wasn't one here, so the richness of an international clientele wasn't there. A real disappointment!

Woohoo! Jazz on the City! Loved it - roof terrace with fantastic views of U.W. side, cool common room with wifi, plasma tv, great place to chill out with a beer and talk with other hostellers... Rooms were clean and well put together, ensuite bathrooms were spot on - 1 cockroach spotted, and no luggage storage but hey! This hostel's just round the corner from Central Park! One of the better hostels we've stayed in New York...

Hostel is good, but those who run it have no interest in their job, or their guests.

really needs a lift!! those 6 flights of stairs can kill you, especially dragging luggage up and down!

A good hostel, close to the subway and with nice bathrooms adjoined to each dorm. Recommended.

We stayed in a mixed 12-bed dorm in late September, and the heat almost killed me. It was so hot in their you could barely breathe let alone sleep. Apart from this it seemed like a great budget place to stay but if its a hot time of year definately think twice about staying in the bigger rooms _ definately not more than one night!

Staff was not plesent. No breakfast and kitchen facility. Rooms and beds were tight and small.

This hostel is the worst we´ve visited during our traveling. There was only one bathroom for twelve persons. Then there were no kitchen, fridge, cooker, dishes. Only one microwave. It was absolutely deficient for its price. And during night we heard noise from near room and we could not sleep. Never more.

If I would go to NY again, I would stay in Jazz on the city again. Although they had very (!) big trouble with the reservations that week (people were moved daily from one room to another one and even had to sleep on the floor - except us :O)) the stuff stayed friendly and helpful. Met a lot of interesting people. Roomes were cleaned daily! Few steps to the metro, many good and cheap restaurants around the corner. Had a gread time!!
